The project was accepted as part of a competition held between five local offices. The 450 square-meter office is located in Manhattan, New-York, at 59th Street, and overlooks the southern part of Central Park. The design of the office is characterized by the creation of a flexible and dynamic space, that could vary according to the future needs of its owners, both in terms of number of rooms and nature of use, while maintaining privacy and maximum exposure to the park, and a design style that will radiate a luxurious innovative classicism, with light-hearted seriousness. The character of the office obliged to creating a designed space combining technology and luxury, but at the same time radiating warmth. The space is divided in its center by a central traffic axis, on one side of which is a constructive element, that holds the reception desk, personal offices, services areas for office use, and on the other side of the axis (park side), meeting rooms and the director’s office. Smart glass was used to allow privacy in the rooms when needed, while allowing transparency and openness from all parts of the office to the park’s landscape. Throughout the entire office space, walls were designed just around the restrooms. In contrast, the rest of the partitions were constructed of smart glass and carpentry and are used as “functional walls” for storage, and presentations. The construction of the office was performed in a modular design method. All the infrastructures were arranged in the area itself, and the rest of the elements in the space were built in Israel, and were shipped to New York in a container. Professionals from Israel completed the work in the field within a few days. This construction strategy saved about 30% of project costs and significantly shortened the schedule. Our office performed all the steps in the project, from planning and designing the space to the actual construction.
